※<note>

The cherry tree of Oshirasama is a weeping cherry tree
in Yokobori, Yuzawa City, Akita Prefecture,Japan.
It is by Hakusan Shrine.   The tree age is about 200 years old.
Furthermore, the cherry tree Oshirasama is
designated No.68 on Tohoku( Northeast Japan ) Sakura Road.

About the name, Oshirasama is named after Hakusan Shrine.
Those who live there call the shrine 'Oshirasama'.
When I translate  Hakusan literally, it is 'White Mountain'.
White sounds 'Shiro' or 'Shira' and 'Haku' in Japanese.
Shiro and Shira is the original Japanese pronunciation for 'White'.
About 'O' of oshirasama, when Japanese we say something politely,
we often add 'O' or 'On' to things.
Furthermore about 'Sama' is the best honorific in Japanese.
So those who live there call that Shrine ' Oshirasama'.

おしらさまの枝垂れ桜は秋田県湯沢市横堀の白山神社の
傍らに美しく咲く桜です。樹齢およそ200年、東北桜街道
札所68番の桜の見どころとして指定されています。

<おしらさま>という呼び名は、近在の方たちが白山神社を
<おしらさま>と呼んで親しんでいることからきています。
