<Tanka/ 短歌>

in dark clouds

the heavens show

Tatsuko's pain

Lake Tazawa has suffered from

the torrential rainstorm

※ I had to drive a long way on an errand the day before yesterday. After finishing it, I drove to Lake Tazawa though it was raining. Fortunately, around my arrival, the rain stopped. A week ago, the torrential raistom hit Akita Prefecture, where I live. It made around the lake areas flood and submerged. So part of the lake's road was landslided and being repaired. Of course, I could not drive a round.
There is the statue of Tatsuko on the lake.
She is said to be a lord lady of Lake Tazawa.
I surely saw her that day and I transposed my impression into tanka.

I hope the affected areas will recover from damages as soon as possible.

so beautiful so green
as I look at the picture
in my mind
I can smell the grass
and the air

Every day is a beautiful day
Just some different
some cloudy
some Sun so bright
Some loud with thunder and lightning
and beautiful rain
Enjoy every day
Be aware of the beauty that surrounds us
open your eyes and ears enjoy it

every day we awake is a gift for another day
How we greet it ?
and deal with it is the major chore
I chose to enjoy the beauty that surrounds us

and regect the negavity

Sometime I wake with twist
and turn most days as older some harderto move
As I try so thankful as feel the real and smile

silk flowers
waving in the wind

Today
another wave of bloom
has come across my path,
another line of words
reminded me the time
when you and I
were little girls,
when life was different enough
to call it earnestly The Past.
The life is going on
around us, we change a lot
while following the path,
we learn, create,
we love and laugh,
we growing old,
still little girls at heart.

This is the third Tanka poetry collection of Rika Inami.
She originally composed Tanka in Japanese and translated them into English.
You can read this book in a bilingual manner, Japanese & English.
She lives in Akita Prefecture, Japan, which is rich in nature, so she has mainly written Tanka in praise of nature.  Throughout her daily life she is inspired by beautiful mountains, flowers and rivers.   She experiences the mysteries of nature.   Her existence itself is reflected in her description of nature.
While compiling this book, she felt that the publication would fall in the season of the cherry blossoms.
It inspired her to include the works of or relating to cherry blossoms.   Thus, among fifty-one tanka poetries, readers will find more than ten works of cherry blossoms.
Furthermore she, as a WEB Tanka poetess, composed Tanka lines from her Internet life such as Emails.   They have romantic moods.
It is just expressed in this book that we have to respect and share with nature even in this science-technology age.
It is sure that readers who love Tanka poetry since the time of “Manyoshu 万葉集 ” and respect traditions in the scientific times will empathize with this book.
