Tanka...Finishing Higan

finishing higan --
smoke of powder incense
for spirits fading...
cactus in full bloom
against the remaining snow

Higan is the vernal equinox week for Japanese Buddhists March 18th to 24th,
which is one of the biggest events for us.
During higan, I serve not only foods
and normal stick incense to spirits but also powder one.   I like to keep the traditional custom.
Higan finished yesterday and the smell of powder insence
drifting in my house faded away.
At the same time, I found my cactus blooming by the window of my room.
It went through this severe winter.
Finally it conquered the Wintry General.
