最上公園の桜 / Sakura in Mogami Park

 

春愁は天神様にゆだねけり麗しき桜（はな）にうつそみ埋む(うづむ)

先日、当地・秋田県に隣接する山形県の新庄市にある最上公園に花見に行きました。

最上公園は新庄の初代藩主の戸澤氏の居城跡に作られた公園です。

公園内には戸澤神社、護国神社、菅原道真にちなんだ天満宮(天神様)の三社があります。まず私は各社に参拝してから花見をいたしました。

春、新しい事が様々にあり、それに伴い何かと心配事があります。が、そうした愁い事も、神社詣りでいっとき鎮まり、桜の中に没し満喫したひとときでした。

The cherry blossoms have finally come into full bloom here.

Recently, I’ve had occasions to visit Shinjo City in Yamagata Prefecture, next to Akita where I live.

This week, I went to Mogami Park to enjoy hanami—cherry blossom viewing.

The park stands on the site of the former Tozawa Castle and houses three shrines: Tozawa Shrine, Gokoku Shrine, and Tenjin Shrine, dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane.

I visited all three before viewing the blossoms.

Spring brings many new beginnings, often with worries.

But as I prayed, my heart found calm—and I was able to lose myself in the beauty of the flowers.
